The Rev. Beth Rauen Sciaino
Transition to Rector - June 28, 2020
On June 28, 2020 parishioners of St. Bernard’s Episcopal Church celebrated the transition of the Rev. Beth Rauen Sciaino from Priest-in-Charge to the Church’s ninth Rector in its 120-year history during on-line services on June 28.
The Right Rev. William H. (“Chip”) Stokes, D.D., 12th Bishop of the Diocese of New Jersey, spoke at the service by video in support of Pastor Beth. Reading the Bishop’s “Letter of Institution” and serving as his representative was the Rev. Angelo Wildgoose, Rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Plainfield, and Dean of the Watchung Convocation (Diocese of New Jersey), who also participated in the service. After receiving permission from the Bishop in May, the Vestry of St. Bernard’s unanimously elected Pastor Beth as Rector, a tenured position versus Priest-in-Charge being a contractual position.
“I’m delighted and humbled to be elected to serve St. Bernard’s as its Rector,” said Pastor Beth. “Since my arrival at St. Bernard’s almost five years ago, I’ve been inspired by lay leaders’ and parishioners’ faith and commitment to hands-on helping in Bernardsville and beyond. I look forward to our continued ministry together as we trust in God’s steadfast love, compassion and hope.”
